want to become exhibiting artists. Consignment issues, liabilities,
insurance, sales and copyright will be discussed.

July 30: Basic Considerations of Start Up Media, Art and Entertainment
Companies on the Internet
This workshop will cover the need for media companies to address legal
strategies and issues early on in the company's life. The discussion
will involve basic corporate structures, intellectual property
licensing, avoiding unfavorable contracts, working with independent
contractors and more.

Everyone -- not just the famous-- has the right to control the use of
his/her own image, name, signature or likeness. Learn the dos and
don'ts of how to use others' publicity rights without getting into
legal trouble.

August 27: Creative Collaborations and Partnerships
This workshop is ideally suited for artists, musicians and other
entertainers who work together creatively. It will include an overview
of creative collaborations, as well as the potential advantages and
disadvantages in operating a business as a partnership. Topics to be
covered will include joint ownership of creative works, general steps
entailed in setting up a creative collaboration or partnership,
including formal collaboration/partnership operating agreements,
dispute resolution and more.

September 10: Music Licensing 101
What is a license? How and where can an artist license his or her
music? How does digital distribution affect music licensing? This
workshop will address the basics of copyright law and licensing as well
as some particulars for licensing downloads and streams.

September 24: Nonprofit Basics and Fiscal Sponsorships
Thinking of starting a nonprofit organization? Whether you are a
filmmaker, a dance company, or an arts group, many grants are only
available to public charities. So how do you obtain public charity
status? What are the disadvantages? What about fiscal sponsorship? This
workshop answers your questions.
