How to Start a Non-Profit or other Social Purpose Organization

With Ken Larsen

Have you ever wondered how to take your desire to provide a community service or program and create a Non Profit Organization? Is forming a 501c3 the best approach to realizing your goals? Did you know there are other and often overlooked options like LLCs, social purpose, and benefit corporations as well as subsidiary relationships between nonprofits and for-profit entities that may make more sense for your specific situation? Also, after you form your organization, are you aware of the many reporting and record keeping requirements you'll need to be compliant with the law? Please join us to learn about your options and the legal requirements involved.

PRESENTER: KEN LARSEN, has been instrumental in shaping California's nonprofit fundraising legislation and regulation for almost 20 years. Currently, he serves as Senior Policy Advisor for California Volunteers, Office of the Governor. As an arts worker, he helped build Christo's Running Fence and booked the first California tour of North America's only professional horse-drawn theater company, among others.
