Music Royalties 101: Monetizing Your Music

Program:

Royalties are an essential part of the music business, but they are not always easy to navigate. Join California Lawyers for the Arts and attorney Jesse Morris for an introduction to music royalties. Learn the basics about the different types of music royalties, and how they are earned, calculated, and collected. This program will provide a framework for understanding different types of royalties from sources such as CDs, iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, FM radio, broadcast TV, theatrical movies, and YouTube.

Presenter:

Jesse E. Morris, Esq. is a Los Angeles based entertainment lawyer and musician. A graduate of UC Berkeley and UC Hastings College of the Law, his professional areas of expertise include contract reviews, advising, drafting, and negotiations, trademarks,
copyright law, and business formations. At his own firm, Morris Music Law, Jesse primarily represents songwriters, artists, bands, producers, managers, labels, publishers, and entrepreneurs.
