Independent Film Distribution Strategies

with Akua Boyenne, Esq.

In this workshop, we'll look at various strategies for distributing independent feature films. We'll start by looking at the importance of obtaining U.S. theatrical distribution, even a limited release, as it drives DVD, VOD, TV and foreign sales. Next, we’ll talk about using a producer's representative to create a successful film festival strategy. Then, we'll look at when is the right time to hire a foreign sales agent to take your film to film markets (e.g. AFM and Cannes). Finally, we'll examine the various methods and platforms of self-distribution.
