Business Entities for Creative Projects and Artists
with Steven Lowe, Esq.

Business entities -- including corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs), partnerships/joint ventures, and even fictitious business names -- are utilized in entertainment and art businesses in multiple scenarios. This workshop will explore when, why, and how these entities are formed, and pitfalls to avoid in connection with each type of entity. Mr. Lowe will illustrate some of the pitfalls with short summaries of litigation that his firm has handled involving disputes between participants in business entities. While examples will come primarily from the film and television industries, this workshop is pertinent to visual, and other, independent artists. Time will be reserved at the end for questions from the audience.

Steven Lowe, Esq. has been a practicing attorney in California
since 1986. In 1991, he formed the Law Offices of Steven T. Lowe & Associates, which became Lowe Law, a professional corporation, in 1991. His firm’s areas of expertise are entertainment, art, and business law. Mr. Lowe has published multiple articles about entertainment law in various law journals, and has been “A-V rated” by the national directory of attorneys, Martindale-Hubbell, since 1998.
