Start 2012 with "an ounce of prevention" for creative success!

Managing Your Creative Work to Prevent Legal Problems

With Jill Roisen, Esq. and Bob Pimm, Esq.

This workshop provides a road-map for anticipating and preventing legal problems in your creative work. Creative work is most often a collaboration (e.g. with gallery owners; recording studios; publishers; agents; etc., etc.). This workshop will offer a step-by-step guide to working with others to achieve your creative arts goals, including: (i) choosing good partners; (ii) effective negotiation techniques; (iii) when is a written contract advisable; (iv) basic contract terms you should always use; (v) what to do if a dispute arises (e.g. traditional vs. alternative dispute resolution); and other relevant topics.

Presenters:

Jill Roisen is an attorney and the Program Director of CLA's Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services, and CLA's Arts and Community Development programs.

Bob Pimm is an attorney and CLA's Chief Learning Officer and Director of Legal Services. Bob's private law practice is focused on helping creative people and their companies with intellectual property and literary legal matters.
