Understanding Intellectual Property is vital for musicians and other music industry professionals. IP and Copyright allows music owners, creators and entrepreneurs to ensure their creations are protected and that they receive proper credit and compensation for their work. Join CLA for a workshop on the fundamentals of intellectual property as applicable to creators working within the music industry.

About Our Speaker: 

Cory Shackelford, Attorney, Shackelford Legal


For over 10 years, Cory Shackelford has been helping music creators and music rights owners manage and enforce their rights (including their copyrights), negotiate more favorable deals, and maximize their income streams. In 2016, Cory founded Shackelford Legal, a transactional law firm that represents mostly music rights owners, songwriters, composers, artists, labels, publishers, and various entertainment companies. Prior to founding Shackelford Legal, Cory served as General Counsel/VP Business Affairs at Wixen Music Publishing, Inc., where he helped protect and manage the catalogs of some of the most successful songwriters of all time.
